Getting to and from Talpe

The coast road here is the same one that runs through Unawatuna, and the two towns run into each other closely enough that there is no real gap between them. Talpe's own stretch is known for the stilt fishermen who work just offshore on wooden poles — a genuine local trade, not a show staged for visitors, though many now pose for photographs for a fee.

Arranging a pickup

Villas here tend to sit down short lanes off the coast road rather than directly on it, so a landmark or a villa name is worth giving alongside the road. Being this close to Unawatuna, a driver already in the area will often treat the two as the same stop rather than two separate journeys.

Questions about taxis in Talpe

How much is a taxi in Talpe?

From Rs 750 in a Mini / Small Car, to Unawatuna: the lowest fare on the board. Each route below carries its own fixed price, distance and driving time — quoted before you book, with no meter and no surcharge on arrival.

Can I book a taxi from Talpe to Colombo airport?

Yes, and it is one of the routes most often booked from here. Give your flight number when you book and your driver has it. There is no automatic flight tracking yet, so if you are delayed, message your driver on the number in your confirmation. Extended waiting beyond the pickup window is chargeable on a point-to-point transfer, and the terms say by how much.

Are the drivers in Talpe verified?

Licence and vehicle are checked before a driver can quote, and each one has a profile showing their rating, experience and the exact car — including the registration — so you know who is coming before you book.
