Amaya Hills sits above Kandy in Heerassagala, built into a hillside with the Heerassagala forest falling away below the property and the Knuckles mountain range visible in the distance beyond it. Rather than the colonial or contemporary styling common among Kandy's larger hotels, Amaya Hills is built in traditional Sri Lankan architectural style, which gives the property a different visual character from most of its five-star peers in the area, and ties its exterior directly to the landscape it sits in rather than to an imported hotel template.
