Nüwa is the flagship ultra-luxury hotel within City of Dreams Sri Lanka, an integrated resort in Colombo 2 that opened in August 2025 as the first development of its kind in the country. The wider complex, built by John Keells Holdings and operated in partnership with Hong Kong-based Melco Resorts & Entertainment, also includes a separate, larger hotel, a casino and entertainment zone, a luxury retail promenade, and a run of restaurants and bars. Nüwa is the smaller and more exclusive of the two hotels on site, with 113 rooms and suites set apart from the rest of the complex.
The hotel sits close to Galle Face Green and the Colombo waterfront, and its higher room categories, including Deluxe Oceanfront rooms, several Premium and Executive suites, three Presidential Suites and a single signature Dragon Suite, are built around that outlook. Interiors lean into a high-end, design-led aesthetic in keeping with Melco's other properties in Macau and the Philippines, rather than the more corporate look of a typical international chain hotel.
Dining is anchored by Spice8, a round-the-clock restaurant built around open-kitchen cooking spanning eight different Asian cuisines, alongside two bars within the hotel itself. Guests also have access to the wider City of Dreams complex and its restaurant lineup, which was curated with a number of internationally known chefs attached at launch.
Because it opened as part of a large, newly built integrated resort rather than as a standalone hotel, Nüwa reads differently from Colombo's older five-star properties: it's part of a bigger, purpose-built entertainment and retail precinct rather than a hotel that has grown its own facilities over time. For guests, that means the room product and service are new and built to a very high specification, with the rest of the complex on the doorstep rather than requiring a trip elsewhere in the city.
Colombo 2 is one of the city's more established commercial and administrative districts, sitting between the old Fort area and the newer development further south along the coast, and Nüwa's arrival adds a large-scale, purpose-built luxury hotel to a part of the city that previously had comparatively little five-star stock of this kind.
