Randholee Resort — also known by its fuller name, Mount Randholee Resorts & Spa — sits on Heerassagala Road on the slopes of the Hanthana mountain range, a few minutes' drive from central Kandy rather than inside the old town itself. That distance is part of the point: instead of a city address near the temple and the lake, the resort trades on altitude and greenery, looking out over the forested hillsides that ring the city.
The Hanthana range is one of the mountain chains that gives Kandy its bowl-like setting, historically planted with tea and now better known locally for hiking trails that climb through forest reserve toward its peak. A resort built into that hillside sits closer to that quieter, greener side of Kandy than to the crowded streets around the lake and the temple, and the property leans into it: an infinity pool is positioned to take advantage of the view, and a mountain-view restaurant and bar makes the outlook as much a part of the experience as the menu.
