Getting to and from Beruwala
The town sits on a headland reached by a short causeway, with the working harbour and an old lighthouse on the seaward side and the main coast road running past on the other — a pickup right on the point can mean a longer final stretch than the straight-line distance suggests. Bentota is close enough that the two are sometimes booked as one stop rather than two, and a car coming from the north will usually pass straight through Kalutara without stopping.
Arranging a pickup
Hotels on the headland itself sit down narrow lanes off the main road, so a landmark or a hotel name carries a driver further than a road name alone. The harbour here is a working fishing port as well as a tourist stop, and the road beside it is busiest very early in the morning when the boats come in — worth knowing if a pickup is scheduled for first light.
Questions about taxis in Beruwala
How much is a taxi in Beruwala?
From Rs 1,590 in a Mini / Small Car, to Bentota: the lowest fare on the board. Each route below carries its own fixed price, distance and driving time — quoted before you book, with no meter and no surcharge on arrival.
Can I book a taxi from Beruwala to Colombo airport?
Yes, and it is one of the routes most often booked from here. Give your flight number when you book and your driver has it. There is no automatic flight tracking yet, so if you are delayed, message your driver on the number in your confirmation. Extended waiting beyond the pickup window is chargeable on a point-to-point transfer, and the terms say by how much.
Are the drivers in Beruwala verified?
Licence and vehicle are checked before a driver can quote, and each one has a profile showing their rating, experience and the exact car — including the registration — so you know who is coming before you book.
