Getting to and from Kalutara
The Southern Expressway crosses the Kalu Ganga on a high bridge right beside the town, with the white dome of the Kalutara Bodhiya visible from the carriageway — most drivers use it as the marker that the city traffic is finally behind them. The old coast road through the town itself is slower and narrower, useful only if the pickup or drop-off is actually on the seafront rather than near the expressway interchange. South towards Beruwala and Bentota the road stays close to the coast the whole way, so the run onward from here is short.
