Getting to and from Mirissa

Far enough along the south coast that the expressway does most of the journey and the coast road finishes it. Whale-watching boats leave from the harbour early, which is the one thing that decides departure times here: for a morning sailing you are on the road before dawn, and every driver who works this coast expects it.

Arranging a pickup

The bay is small and the road behind it is narrow, with most guesthouses reached down short lanes that a larger vehicle cannot easily turn in. Drivers will usually meet on the main road rather than at the door, and for a group with luggage that is worth planning for rather than discovering at the time.
