Getting to and from Negombo

The closest beach town to the airport, and near enough that the journey is measured in minutes rather than hours — which is exactly why so many first and last nights on the island are spent here. The road is ordinary rather than expressway, running through town for most of its length, but the distance is short enough that it rarely matters.

Arranging a pickup

The hotels are strung along a single beach road, and the northern end is a good deal further from the airport than the southern end even though both have Negombo addresses, so give the hotel name when booking. For an early flight the run to the terminal is short enough that a sensible departure time still means a reasonable night.
