King's Pavilion sits on just under three acres in Aniwatta, in the hills above Kandy, and started out as something quite different from the boutique hotel it is today: a private holiday bungalow that hosted international cricket teams during their tours of Kandy. Two Sri Lankan owners, Priyantha and Dinesh, later reworked the property into a small hotel, reopening it as a tribute to that history and to the wider Kandyan heritage of the area rather than erasing the bungalow's past in favour of a more generic boutique identity.
The hotel keeps its scale deliberately small, with just nine rooms spread across the grounds — a figure that puts it among the smallest hotels in this part of Kandy, and one that allows a level of personal attention larger properties can't easily match. Kandyan arts and culture run through the interiors: batik wall hangings and artwork depicting Kandyan dancers appear throughout the public spaces and rooms, tying the design directly back to the region rather than to a generic boutique-hotel look borrowed from elsewhere.
Guests who upgrade to the King's Suite or Queen's Suite get a separate living area, a large bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, and access to a private butler on request — a level of service normally associated with much larger luxury properties, offered here inside a nine-room house.
An infinity pool is the hotel's centrepiece outdoor feature, positioned to look out over the Hantana and Knuckles mountain ranges from the loungers, giving even a short stay a clear visual focal point. A small treatment area on-site offers Ayurvedic healing therapies, and yoga sessions are available in the garden for guests who want to start the day there rather than at the pool, rounding out a stay built around slowing down rather than sightseeing from the property itself. Aniwatta itself is one of Kandy's more established residential districts up in the hills, and King's Pavilion sits within it as a private house turned hotel rather than a purpose-built property dropped into the landscape. That domestic origin still shows in the scale of the place: nine rooms and a garden, run more like a private home that happens to take guests than like a hotel that happens to feel intimate.
With only nine rooms, three acres of garden, and a lineage that runs from cricket-team lodging to a heritage-minded boutique hotel, King's Pavilion is built for guests looking for a quiet, personal stay rather than the scale and facilities of Kandy's larger five-star properties.

Questions about this transfer
How much is a taxi from Colombo airport to King’s Pavilion?

How long does the transfer to King’s Pavilion take?
About 2 hr 52 min in normal traffic. Arrivals at Bandaranaike are busiest in the early morning, when the long-haul flights land together.

How this transfer works
One fixed price for the whole car, not per seat. There is no meter, so the figure you are quoted is the figure the booking honours. Give your flight number when you book and your driver has it.
The return leg from King’s Pavilion is the same journey booked the other way, at the same price, and can be arranged now or later in your stay. Departures want you at Bandaranaike three hours before a long-haul flight, so add the 2 hr 52 min back to that.
