Getting to and from Weligama
The bay at Weligama is wide, shallow and lined by the old coast road, which carries all the traffic because the expressway gives out well short of it at Matara. That road is busy with fishing lorries at first light and with school traffic through the middle of the morning, and it slows through every town on the way. Arriving from the airport, most of the journey is quick and the last part is not, which is worth allowing for when a flight lands late.
